will be giving a talk about the dig to

The Moray Society - Elgin Museum, Elgin on Friday 27 February at 7.30pm

'The Cromarty Medieval Burgh Community Archaeology Project'

A talk about the recent community archaeological investigations in
Cromarty to investigate the early origins of the burgh and its
subsequent history to the recent past. Excavations in the Reed's Park
field in the east end of Cromarty over the past two years are revealing
intriguing insights into the layout, settlement and economy of the
burgh between the 13th and 17th centuries along Thief's Row - an area
of town located to the east of the old High Street. Additional
information has also been gathered relating to the later settlement in
the area up to its abandonment in the 19th century, providing a
snapshot through time into the rise and decline of a Royal Burgh.
