WINTER STORMS BATTER THE SHORELINE DIG SITE

After monitoring the shoreline over the past several weeks of constant winter storms, we took some photos and a video today to record the continued erosion.  The shoreline sites, located immediately in front of our open area excavation site, are being further eroded and undermined below the public footpath with the archaeological remains being destroyed and washed out to sea.  We did recover a few pieces of medieval pottery but too much investigation could further destabalise the site and footpath.  Ross has attempted to stabalise one erosion section - but it is certain a longer term solution is needed, so we'll need to figure out what to do next...
